IT Architecture Consultant
ROLE: To sit with clients (CIOS), as a trusted advisor, understanding and mapping business processes, aligning it with clients’ business goals while considering their IT-related production problems and then presenting suitable solutions. Must have an overall passion and interest for technology, infrastructure, be very smart with a helicopter view on how IT can really help and impact business outcomes.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Create good architecture while creating a technical strategy that informs clients’ business strategy. Integrate existing infrastructure with new applications by selecting the technology that provides the best solution for business needs. Gather and evaluate customer business requirements, identifying and documenting current processes and infrastructure related to the business requirements. Leverage knowledge of hardware specifications and requirements to ensure successful implementation of Microsoft Solution products. Maintain knowledge of and apply industry best practices for architecture, participate in cross-functional component architecture teams, and develop future architecture and technology migration plans.
COMPETENCY DOMAINS:
TECHNOLOGY: w/ in-depth understanding of at least 2-4 component architectures so as to determine which technical issues are key to success. Knowledgeable on development methods and modeling techniques. With an overall system view, builds models of the problem and solution space, explores alternative approaches, prepares documents and explains the architecture to sponsors and stakeholders. Subject matter expert in project management execution of multiple enterprise level, mid-sized projects; experience in participating in multidiscipline, high-performance work teams/groups and demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
BUSINESS STRATEGY: Able to grasp the clients’ business strategy and the rationale behind it, including its business practices, planning cycles and decision making processes. Able to understand clients’ competitors (their products, strategies and product generation processes). Familiar with the key factors in the business environment that affect clients’ success and able to distill all these business factors into architectural requirements and architectural choices.
ORGANIZATIONAL POLITICS: Able to understand the business and personal objectives of key players, getting them committed to the success of the architecture, as someone who listens, networks, articulates and sells a vision, over the life of the project. Must be articulate and confident; resilient and driven; and able to see from and sell to multiple viewpoints.
CONSULTING: Knowledgeable on elicitation techniques, consulting frameworks so as to build “trusted advisor” relationships. Able to understand what stakeholders want/need from the architecture; can help stakeholders see the value of the architecture and understand how to use it successfully.
LEADERSHIP: Able to infuse project members and stakeholders with a common vision and to motivate the core team and associated teams to do their best work. With dedication and passion, a strong belief that you can lead the effort – you must see yourself and others must see you, as a credible leader – charismatic and credible and able to see the entire effort in a broader business and personal context.
ABILITIES / SKILLS:
Ability to identify and resolve complex situations in a responsive manner, and take corrective action to eliminate re-occurrence.
Strategic thinking and leadership with excellent abilities in relationship management.
Excellent analytical, planning, and communication skills.
Solid Pre-sales & client-facing skills
Ability to anticipate future IT direction to support Corporate Initiatives.
Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication to clients and project team members; including prior experience writing white papers, proposals, research reports, articles and case studies.
Expertise in gathering, analyzing, and applying primary and secondary research.
Requirements:
• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s/College Degree in Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
• Required skill(s): ITIL, CISSP, Project management.
• Preferred skill(s): Capex & Budget Management, Software Engineering Processes, Data Center/Networking Technologies.
• Required language(s): English.
• At least 10 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
• Preferably Managers/Assistant Managers specializing in IT/Computer - Network/System/Database Admin or equivalent. Job role in Consultant or IT Auditor.
• 2 Full-Time positions available.
